ABOUT ME

The Middle Distance.png

I’ve been keeping a blog for more than 30 years—though if you’re doing the math, back in my day we called it journaling. A delightfully prehistoric term by today’s standards. Nonetheless, I still journal… eh, blog… usually in a ghost-like manner.

(Ghost blog = alias or guest blogger elsewhere. Shhh…)

The Middle Distance is a new—well, upcycled—venture. A conscious step out from the shadows of journaling… blogging… whatever-ing… and into the light, for the benefit of my own cathartic mind dump and my enduring love of sharing experiences, ideas, hobbies, places, people, kitchen magic, dog pictures… and, of course, advocacy. This space lives in the middle: between who I’ve been and who I’m becoming, between observation and action, between the practical and the magical.

My belief system is grounded, intuitive, and deeply ordinary in the best way. I’m a kitchen witch at heart—working with herbs, intention, moodwater, and energy as part of daily life, not performance. I believe in tending what’s close: what we eat, what we read, how we speak to ourselves, the energy we carry into a room, and the rituals that help us stay present and regulated in a chaotic world.

I believe who I am is more important than what I do.

Yes, I’m a professional. I own fancy shoes and suit jackets (when absolutely necessary). But what I do has not made me who I am. If anything, it’s worked in reverse.

I am constantly growing, learning, and reaching new levels of awareness, understanding, and mindset. The Middle Distance is a tapestry of lived experience—books that shaped me, rituals that ground me, observations that stop me in my tracks, and the quiet energy work of paying attention—viewed from somewhere in the middle, where meaning is made and nothing is wasted.
